New levels, monsters, and weapons DO NOT automatically mean compromised gameplay. It is normal for each game (in any series) to bring new features… I understand that you don’t want the core PK gameplay to change, but I don’t think Mr.Sadface wants that either- he just wants new content for his money, and rightfully so! If there are no new monsters, weapons, or levels, then how is this a new game and not simply a mod with a price tag?
Mr. Sadface brings up very real complaints- look further up to see a similar post by HV. I agree with HV and Mr.Sadface in that PK needs more than just remixed content. It is time for some REAL improvements… the Pain Engine is 8 years old and it shows. We have been using these same weapons and fighting these same monsters for 8 years… what other game, through 4 sequels, can boast such little change? Reimagining PK (like Doom 2 to Doom 3) is a bad idea, but keeping everything exactly the same is also a bad idea.
Anyway, I like what Eggtooth did with Redemption (massive hordes of monsters = good design) and the screenshots have beautiful lighting that seems new. I just hope that we also get some new monsters and weapons.

– Make sure you are using PK, BooH, or Black Edition.
– Make sure you install HUDmod to Painkiller’s installed directory.
– If the standalone install option fails, try the modloader install option.
– If all else fails, extract the PAK to your Painkiller/Data folder.

Very good download package with installer, image, etc. Levels are good but could be perfect with some minor tweaks. The fight song for Eclipsed Castle is awesome. Looking forward to the final mod…

Agreed. I think what PK2 really needs is better physics for monsters, objects, and weapons… and for this we need Pain Engine v2.
I want to shoot oil drums and then ignite the spilled oil (all over enemies, objects, environment, etc) with the flamethrower. And also extinguish fires with the freezer.
I want to pin an enemy to the wall without killing him- he will still shoot projectiles or squirm! Then his monster friend comes to pull the stake out and throw it back at you!
Ammo should have physics too, so we can knock it off of high ledges and send it flying with explosions.
And fixed vibrating arms, monsters running in the air, bodies pinned in impossible positions, etc. Basically PK2 doesnt need console crap or feature creep, all it needs is an improved engine and a fresh set of weapons, levels, and monsters. Of course a new engine should mean better graphics too 🙂
