It’s intentional and plot related. You aren’t supposed to do this, as seraphim sword makes him near invicible and he will be next ruler of hell after Eve’s death. He has more health than you can do damage to him. There’s only one goal: survive. As you enter area with Samael, appropriate text appears and he’s gone after outro. This text warning was added because many players could be confused and actually tried hurt the boss.

If BooH is considered separately as it was when released before repackaging into Black Edition along with first part, then Painkiller 6 😛

You will need stronger machine especially if you want play Graveyard and Highway levels flawless as they have bigger system requirements than others. Also loading time depends on size of the level and how powerful is your gaming machine. I wonder how end-effect will look like. 😉

Like Eggtooth said, they made the game unstable and crashed the game. Remember it’s post-Resurrection source code, not original 1.64 behaviour and he wouldn’t release something unoptimized and crashing like Homegrown Games did with Resurrection. That’s why Hellgun will be added later, unless they solve that problem at the Nordic Games side somehow. Also there’s one monster removed because of similar reason. Not much loss, he was annoying. 😉

Because PK isn’t like Serious Sam. There are some similarities but they aren’t exactly the same and have their own different style when comes to gameplay and design. 😉

Every version of PK overwrited other part of source code. Weapons from BooH were crashing and made game unbalanced in Resurrection. Eggtooth cleaned and rewrited game code in Redemption but still there were some problems so they are removed to prevent strange things. Since Overdose and Resurrection engine isn’t behaving like BlackEd 1.64.

There might be some problems with that one implemented as a part of the game when released. Similar reason why there’s no BooH 2 weapons and 2 weapons from Overdose in Redemption.

I think they will serve functional and creative story-telling role matching actual character of the game than overwhelming AVATAR-esque rendered cinematics.

I know what you mean. In original PK when I first played Chapter 3 and encountered military monsters I couldn’t adjust my style of playing to them, to learn their behavior and react according to them, because previous Chapter 1 and 2 didn’t have monsters like these. Chaingun/RL and ElectroDriver/Shurikens was a must. Good thing is, all later PK games helped me learn everything what was already in old PK (and Redemption with Belial character, his theme and weapons style). 😉

According to old PCF idea behind PK weapons, there’s no reason to add identical weapons with same behavior different only in stats, appearance and sounds. So in fact old PK has 10 completely different weapons in 5 slots that can be combined to a degree of some completely new. You can have even 20-30-50 weapons if you combine their usage and functionality, so I agree they are surgeon’s instruments, barebones to make your own tools of destruction.
New PK is kind of new chapter to the series, literally and technically enhanced to provide good old atmosphere and experience. It’s something between PK and Redemption. True and loyal fans won’t be disappointed. 😉

Are you mad? Besides some retarded game critics people doesn’t want to change or fix what’s not broken. They don’t want completely new maps, enemies or weapons what would be too different in style or gameplay. For example: Overdose has new stuff, new guns, new monsters and new graphics, however it has too different style and partially affected gameplay if compared to BooH or PK so it wasn’t received too well. As for now, it wasn’t bad game, just too different and fresh. Resurrection stated that even further – it’s biggest blasphemy was totally different gameplay and long, open, unbalanced sprawling maps. This was fixed in Redemption as back to basics: merciless slaughter in small/medium maps unforgiving any mistakes made by the player.
I see you don’t want sequel, you want just some random shit and re-imagining stuff remake like Doom 3 to Doom 2 was.

In that case, even Painkiller: Overdose was a sequel and Painkiller 2 (related to Painkiller Daniel’s mission) and in some part technically. 😉
On the other hand, only Redemptions is supposedly to be true Painkiller 2, as sequel to Battle Out Of Hell and Overdose as old Painkiller spirit in theme and style, it’s legacy. When Coop module with MP will be added, and completely new maps and chapters will be added it will fit to earn that “2” title in pure sense of meaning. Also is still developed by fans and with community support.
Only Resurrection is completely independent spinoff, side story. The only good of this shit is that spawned our great one Redemption, what brings Painkiller back to developers from Poland and people who care about PK with passion and ideas and know what is this all about.
