Hey guys.

I made a singleplayer map (entities only lol) to showcase what can be done with the PainEditor, mainly for newcomers but anyone really.

I thought it would be awesome if there was a custom level load menu, and decided to try to make one, and I did. It's not the best or most fancy looking, but it gets the job done Smile. If you install any levels or make any in PainEditor and the first three characters in level name is “sp_” (case sensitive) it will be added to the “toggle list” in the menu. This can easily be changed though.

Extract sp_endgame to the Data/Levels folder and my level load menu mod to the Data folder. You need just painkiller to play the level, but most likely need BooH for the level load menu to work.

Note: For modders (for example, pk++ devs), you are free to include my map or level load menu code in your mods.

Hello!

I've checked it. Good job.

It's true, that it's useful for new mods.

Some time ago Sviatoslav made loader for his Painkiller Big Mod, but it doesn't work in my PK. I will try tomorrow use your Level Load Menu Mod in this mod;

Ultragamer, can you write in future tutorial how make good checkpoint in PK; for example: I don't know how make checkpoint that it appears when killed all monsters (like your Level sp_endgame).

Yes, I will make a PainEditor basics tutorial tomorrow. I'm going to talk about everything I know.

Remember, you can load sp_endgame in PainEditor and see how stuff works.

I almost forgot to mention this. The level load menu is located within "Sign A Pact". Just incase anyone can't figure out where it is.

True, I see but I don't understand much, I have read files from Levels folder too.

It's a good location for me : ))

btw for people, if used this modification for a lot of “sp_*” levels you must click name of level for change on next level, I had a miniproblem with it ;P

Hey I thought I'd check back on painkiller and I noticed that the filefront links to my addons are broken, so here's a mirror with them packed together -

Oh and I also noticed my PainEditor basics tutorial is on the site, thanks! Maybe I'll port the level loader to overdose since there are some sp maps for it, but my addon might conflict with powermad which is what's used to load maps now. I guess I would have to look into a way to make multiple addons work.

Hi Ultragamer and HV.

Ultragamer, I have to say that I am not a modder or a dev, so anything I say is not

comming from a critics point of view. I am just a gamer who happens to always (unfortunately) find bugs and errors and

all the "not so good stuff"   :(

HV, I think I am gonna change my name to Woremochine/ The Exterminator  :O lol

Ok, anyhow, Ultragamer :

First, this is a fantastic idea, loads nicely :)

Problem is, it is only showing one sp_game to load. In PK Black, I have sp_abysmaldawn, and also have your mod, sp_endgame. The loader only shows sp_abysmaldawn, but not your EndGame mod.

In PK Overdose + Powermad, I have SP_HouseOfTheDead, and SP_StreetFighter. The loader only shows sp_houseofthedead, and not the sp_streetfighter.

It seems that it only shows the first sp_*** that is listed in the levels folder (viewing through windows explorer).

My question is : Did I install something wrong? OR Is this something that needs to be tweaked?

Hmmm, using the Black Edition  for me works fine

 

 

I'll not check OD, because it was not dedicated for Overdose, but that's interesting why in old PK is good for me, or you're wrong with something ;>

also, I am experiencing a problem with the drop down boxes above ( to change text color, or insert/edit image) I am pretty sure that this problem is my internet connection or internet options settings. I know i have been able to change the color of my text before, when I was talking about presence, presents, etc. That was before my computer crashed :(

Lol woremochine read the thread. That is an older version of my custom levels menu HV is using. Looks like it works fine for HV. This is the older version -

This doesn't make any sense. The old version does EXACTLY as the new version. I just added the cosmetic changes and detecting if you don't have any levels, and the crash fix.

EDIT: and HV – try the new version.

Did you try and install the new version as you did this old version? And also uninstalling powermad? It makes no sense for one map to be inserted into the button's table and the other to not to.

Yes, I did install new version and old version the same way each time, and no I did not uninstall powermad. Simply because I did not want to lose powermad, it comes in handy.

But if you want me to uninstall powermad as part as the experiment on the load level mod, I will no problem. Unless you don't think it will make a difference at this point, just say so and I will  Smile

Yes please uninstall powermad as an experiment. I literally renamed LScripts to LScriptsoff, downloaded the new version of my own loader and copied its LScripts folder into the Data folder and I can toggle through sp_ maps just fine.
